As a beta reader, I’m here to give you that crucial “reader’s perspective” – how does your story land with someone who’s picking it up fresh? I occasionally take on beta reading projects, especially when they’re cross-genre manuscripts or stories that blend elements in interesting ways.
I’m drawn to stories with emotional complexity, whether that’s morally grey characters, slow-burn tension, suspenseful plots, or narratives that explore the messier sides of human relationships and internal struggles. If your manuscript features complex world-building, unconventional character dynamics, or doesn’t fit neatly into traditional categories, we’re probably going to get along brilliantly.
My job is to read your manuscript as an engaged reader would, then tell you honestly what worked, what didn’t, and where I got confused or lost interest. Think of it as a test drive before your book meets the world. I’ll let you know if the engine’s purring or if there are a few rattles that need attention.
I’ll focus on the reader experience: Does the story grab me from the start? Do the characters feel real? Does the pacing keep me turning pages or does it drag in places? Are there plot holes that made me go “hang on a minute…”? Essentially, I’m giving you the kind of feedback you’d get from an ideal reader – someone who’s genuinely invested in your story succeeding.
What’s included:
- In-document comments as I read – my genuine reactions, questions, and observations in the margins
- A reader’s report that captures what a reader in your genre might love, struggle with, or mention in a review
